“Wintercorn pays Volkswagen 10 million euros in damages”
Former Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn will pay the German car team 10 million euros in severance pay. In the meantime, lawsuits against Winterkorn and other Volkswagen managers are pending in the German and US judiciary.

Volkswagen announced in March that Winterkorn and other former executives were demanding compensation for non-compliance with their duties. Wintercorn pays millions because of the diesel scandal. He was the head of Volkswagen at the time but always refused to take responsibility for the matter. The scandal came to light in 2015. The company has admitted to running large-scale emissions tests using rogue software, making diesel cars appear cleaner than they actually were.
This problem has already resulted in billions of fines and repair costs for Volkswagen. Compensation has already been paid in some countries. Wintercorn has been accused of fraud in the United States where fraudulent software was discovered. In Germany, the former CEO is expected to support four colleagues in his role in the shuffle board scandal this year.
