Wallet theft, DUIs: Hinsdale Cops

HINSDALE, IL – For the past week Hinsdale police handled cases of wallet theft, DUIs, credit card fraud, a car dealership attempted break-in and vandalism. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Wallet theft
- Two men stole three wallets at Marcus, 101 S. Washington St., around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The wallets were valued at $ 5,450. The men have been described as black and in their thirties. One had tattoos and long dreads and was wearing a black jacket. The other was wearing a red college-style jacket. The case is pending.
DUIs

- Jonathan A. Thorsness, 33, of Willowbrook, was arrested at around 10 p.m. on Saturday at 200 block of East Third Street on charges of DUI, failure to observe the stop sign, not slowing down to avoid an accident and not on the right side of the vehicle driven, arrested street. Thorsness had an accident with a vehicle. He took a test that showed it was above the legal limit. He was released and given an appointment to appear in court.
- Amber Lynn Lanz, 33, of Worth, was arrested just before midnight on Saturday at the 600 block on North Garfield Avenue on charges of DUI and resistance or obstruction by an officer. She declined tests to determine her blood alcohol level. She was released and given an appointment to appear in court.
- Daniel A. Latham, 60, of Downers Grove, was arrested Wednesday at around 2:00 a.m. at 400 Block on East Ogden Avenue on charges by the DUI of resisting arrest and improper use of the lane. Latham declined tests to determine his blood alcohol level. He was released and given an appointment to appear in court.
Credit card fraud
- A resident of 100 South Vine Street told police on Oct. 17 that someone had used their business credit card to order $ 1,463 tools from an online retail store. The incident occurred on October 11th. The case is pending.
Attempted break-in

- A man in a black ski mask tried to break into the Land Rover dealer’s repair shop at 336 E. Ogden Ave. at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The man left the premises in a black Volkswagen SUV after unable to open the shop door. The case is pending.
vandalism
- A suspect spilled a large amount of egg-like debris on a victim’s truck and truck bed while the victim was parked on the street at 10 Block of North Monroe Street overnight on Friday. The case is pending.
Stolen decoration
- A Halloween decoration was stolen from a courtyard on the 5800 block of South Grant Street at around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Guarantee
- Sharia Mathis, 30, of Elgin, was arrested on York Road and Ogden Avenue at around 1:00 am Tuesday on a Kane County arrest warrant. She was charged with speeding. She was taken to the Kane County Jail.
