But only until the end of October, also in limited numbers

  • The Polo Matte Edition costs Rs 10 lakh, Rs 25,000 more than the Highline Plus AT version.

  • It gets a matte gray finish with glossy black inserts on the ORVMs, door handles and spoilers.

  • There are no changes in the cabin.

  • It is based on the Top-Spec GT variant and has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, windscreen wipers with rain sensor, cruise control, two front airbags and electronic stability control.

  • It is the first car in its segment to have a factory-fitted option with a matte finish.

Volkswagen India has launched the Polo Matte Edition for Rs 10 lakh. Bookings for a token of Rs 5,000 are in progress and it will be issued to merchants shortly.

The Matte Edition is based on the Top-Spec GT TSI and is also priced the same. The limited model is only available until October (also in limited numbers) and requires a premium of Rs 25,000 over the Highline Plus AT variant.

As the name suggests, the hatchback is designed in matt gray with glossy black inserts on the ORVMs, door handles, rear apron and spoiler. The “GT TSI” badge is also in the same color, while the light-alloy wheels retain their brushed silver tone.

The cabin – with a black and gray theme – remains as it is. As it is based on the GT TSI, the Polo Matte Edition has ambient lights, a steering wheel with a flattened bottom, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, rain-sensitive windshield wipers and automatic air conditioning. The safety of the passengers is guaranteed by two front airbags, an electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a hill start aid.

There are no mechanical changes; The Matte Edition continues with the same 1-liter turbo petrol engine with 110 hp / 175 Nm (paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission) as the GT TSI. The GT variant, on the other hand, is only available with an automatic transmission. There’s also a 76 hp 1-liter MPI engine on offer, mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Polo costs between Rs 6.27 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-Showroom Delhi). It is the first car in its segment to be given a matte color option. The VW hatch competes with the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza.
