The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is now available to order
The two-engine, all-wheel-drive Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, unveiled three weeks ago as the first model of the new performance-oriented GTX sub-brand, is now available to order in early European countries.
In Germany, it starts at € 50,415 ($ 61,380) before incentives, but clients can apply for a (net) grant of € 7,500, so in reality it looks more like € 42,915 ($ 52,250).
In the US, there won’t be a GTX, as the all-wheel-drive version will be just another option for the ID.4 (it costs $ 3,680).
Customer delivery to Europe is scheduled for summer 2021.
Volkswagen ID.4 GTX (2021)
The ID.4 GTX is equipped with the same 82 kWh (77 kWh net) battery as the ID.4 conventional rear-wheel drive model. It will have a range of around 480 km (298 miles) under the WLTP test cycle and the pack will charge at the same maximum rate up to 125 kW.
The main difference in the GTX is the addition of the front induction motor to the existing 150 kW permanently excited synchronous motor at the rear for a total system peak power of 220 kW. Just go from 0 to 100 km / h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds.

In addition to improved performance, the ID.4 GTX also offers a sportier design:
“The design of the ID.4 GTX underlines its extraordinary character, combining driving pleasure with a robust look. The familiar light strip at the front has been combined with powerful and dynamic elements – especially the three honeycomb elements that form the daytime race. They convey the sporty character of the vehicle even when stationary and establish a connection with the Golf GTI. Besides the newly designed bumpers, eye-catching elements at the rear include the 3D LED tail light groups with brake lights that form an X. “
Klaus Zellmer, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Sales, Marketing and Service Board, said:
“The ID.4 GTX is our first fully electric high performance model under the GTX label. It offers good practicality combined with the pleasure of driving. The ID.4 GTX is as sporty as a GTI, as comfortable as an SUV and as durable as the other members of the ID. family. And with the GTX, we are once again accelerating our ‘path to zero’ – to make Volkswagen carbon neutral by 2050. ”
