Tesla will become the last standing electric vehicle after the car rental company cleans up its BEV fleet

The market for electric vehicles is getting denser and more electric cars are coming onto the market every year. This was especially true for Rent your Tesla, a German electric vehicle rental company that expanded its business by buying more electric vehicles from other automakers. In a recent announcement, the BEV rental company stated that it is cleaning up its fleet of electric vehicles except for its Teslas, as the ownership experience of other electric cars is lacking, at least for the time being.

The car rental company set out its decision in a recently released video that was uploaded to its page Youtube channel. In the video, the company noted that it is actually very sad to see some of its electric cars, particularly the Porsche Taycan 4S, an otherwise stunning electric car that is blocked by its charging infrastructure. Other electric cars the company bought from manufacturers like Volkswagen and Hyundai also presented their own challenges – challenges that don’t do them as well for the business as Tesla’s.

The German BEV rental company gives up all BEVs after 2.5 years of experience, except Tesla, because IDs, Enyaq, Taycan, Kona, Ioniq had a lot of problems with software, charging and repairs

Rent Your Tesla mentioned some of the problems they had over time while running a fleet of electric vehicles from various automakers. According to the company, the problems that were prevalent with non-Tesla electric cars were software, charging, and repair, to name a few. For example, Volkswagen’s ID series does not yet have over-the-air software update capabilities, which means owners usually have to go to dealerships to update their vehicles.

The BEV landlord said it will continue to support the electric vehicle movement by regularly showing off non-Tesla electric cars on its YouTube channel. But for its actual business, the car rental company would initially concentrate on a pure Tesla fleet. This is understandable when you consider that Tesla’s electric vehicles are very well-rounded and their fast-charging infrastructure makes them ideal alternatives to fossil-fuel cars.

If there is any lesson that can be drawn from the experience of the German electric car rental company, it is that the electric vehicle owner experience plays a major role. Electric cars may be stunning and their capabilities as vehicles impressive in and of themselves, but without the necessary ecosystem, the owner’s experience could easily stall. Fortunately, this is what sets Tesla apart, despite the company’s potential for improvement in terms of service and repairs.

Tesla’s mastery of over-the-air updates is also a key asset, as it allows the company to fix minor issues and even add functionality from time to time through a software update not dissimilar to those offered by smartphone makers like Apple is.
