What are the best compact sports cars of 2021, the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Veloster N, Subaru WRX STI, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 or Volkswagen Golf GTI? According to a new report from RPM, the Subaru WRX STI 2021 is the best in terms of reliability, quality, performance and value.

RPM ranks the Volkswagen Golf GTI / Golf R in third place, Honda Civic Type R in second place and the Subaru WRX STI 2021 in first place. They say the WRX and STI are the best performance for the price.

They honor the WRX and WRX STI for their turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engines. The WRX is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The STI is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer that produces 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque.

RPM also gives the WRX and STI the best rating for their “highly efficient all-wheel drive,” which is standard on both performance cars.

They say the “268 hp engine on the WRX gives it a great deal of power, but its greatest quality is that it remains comfortable on a day-to-day basis and efficient in all conditions.”

“The Subaru WRX STI takes the dynamic qualities of the WRX one step further and achieves a peak output of 310 hp. If the first generation of the STI quickly became uninhabitable on a daily basis, especially because of an ultra-stiff chassis, it has since behaved more moderately. Nevertheless, it shines with its balance, good reliability and, above all, good resale value, ”says RPM.

What will the 2021 Subaru WRX and WRX STI cost?

The 2021 WRX is available as a base 6-speed manual transmission priced at $ 28,420, Premium 6MT ($ 30,970), Premium CVT ($ 32,870), Limited 6MT ($ 33,020), and Limited CVT ($ 34,920). The price includes the destination and delivery ($ 925).

The basic WRX STI 2021 starts at $ 38,170, and the WRX STI Limited with a wing or a flat trunk spoiler starts at $ 42,870. The price includes the destination and delivery ($ 925).
The Subaru WRX and WRX STI 2021 receive few changes. The WRX Premium equipment 2021 receives keyless entry with start at the push of a button as standard. The WRX STI 2021 remains unchanged.

What’s next for the Subaru WRX 2022?

The 2022 WRX and STI are expected to receive a new 2.4-liter FA24 boxer upgrade with turbocharged extra power. Look for the WRX anywhere near 300hp, and the STI could hit 400hp with the new engine.

When can I buy the Subaru WRX STI 2022?

Subaru should start production of the all-new 2022 WRX in the fall of 2021, but fans will have to wait for the next-generation 2022 WRX STI to hit the market a year later. Torque News brings the latest next generation WRX and STI news.

Before the next generation of WRX and STI hits the market, RPM says the Subaru WRX and WRX STI will offer the best value for the car in 2021.
