Pregnant woman dies after possible street shooting in north Harris County, lawmakers say
A 20-year-old pregnant woman died at a hospital after she and her 17-year-old boyfriend were shot and killed in a possible traffic shooting in northern Harris County on Friday afternoon.
According to Sgt. B. Beall, it happened in the 200 block of Airtex Drive near Ella Blvd.
The couple, in a blue Nissan Altima, were driving east past the 200 block of Airtex Drive when they were suddenly approached by a white Volkswagen Jetta.
At one point, the driver of the Volkswagen pulled out a gun and shot the couple’s driver’s side of the vehicle at least five times.
The friend was beaten twice while his pregnant girlfriend, who appeared to be eight months pregnant, was shot in the neck, Sgt Beall said.
Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where the pregnant friend died. Her baby didn’t survive.
The friend remained in stable condition at this point.
Sergeant Beall said MPs called this a road traffic incident, but according to witnesses who told MPs there was no interaction between either driver prior to the shooting.
It is currently unclear if the pair have been targeted.
Authorities are looking for a white Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows and paper license plates. Anyone with information is asked in this case to call HCSO Homicide at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
