MG Astor shipments could be delayed due to lack of chips, Auto News, ET Auto

New Delhi: Shipments of MG Astor vehicles could be delayed due to shortages of chips and semiconductors in the market, said Gaurav Gupta, chief commercial office of MG Motor India.
“We are all facing an unprecedented situation. The supply of chips and semiconductors is very uncertain and very dynamic,” said Gupta.
“Sometimes our suppliers, be they global or European suppliers, have a weekly schedule that also changes. And that leads to us changing our production schedules.”
“We also saw very high demand for certain variants that deviate from the original plan, for example from our customers of Style and Super. But we have recalibrated all of our work in the backend to be able to support our customer base, ”he added.
The automaker plans to deliver its Charge 1, which includes the first 5,000 cars, this calendar year.
“But in the event that there is a spillover for the next year, I can assure you that all Batch 1 customers are protected at the introductory price,” he added.
The compact SUV MG Astor was reportedly launched in India last month with prices starting at Rs 9.78 lakh for the base “Style” variant, while the top-end “Sharp (O)” started at Rs 17.38 lakh.
