ICONIC ELECTRIC VW CAMPERVAN REVOLUTION TAKES ON AT STEP
LONDON, LONDON, UK, July 9, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — It’s no secret that more and more of us are turning to electric cars.
With the government proposing to ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030, whether we like it or not, we are all becoming part of the green revolution.
But which model do we buy and how do we choose it? They come in all shapes and sizes, so do we base our decision on price, range, eco-friendliness, or do we just go for the heart?
If it’s the latter, a model that won’t be available until next year is sure to generate a huge surge of interest.
Think the legendary Volkswagen campervan and then fast forward 70 years and you have the retro, futuristic, CO2 neutral multifunctional ID.BUZZ.
It may have been a vehicle once loved by your parents and grandparents, but it looks like a new generation of VW campervan lovers has been born.
And that before the multifunctional, fully networked and CO2-neutral vehicle even makes it onto the sales floor.
VW estimates sales at 120,000 a year when it goes live next year.
Indeed, in just 24 hours, Alan Day Motor Group in London took 50 pre-bookings at a fee of £2,000 for the iconic VW camper van.
And the unprecedented demand was replicated across the country, with dealers reporting keen interest in the new model.
Customers are clearly willing to wait as the lead time will be “sometime” next year.
Darran Clarke, Marketing Director at Alan Day Motor Group in London, said: “It’s fair to say there has been phenomenal interest in the ID.Buzz.
“It ticks all the boxes, stylish, cool, adaptable and eco-friendly – this vehicle was definitely built from the ground up with electrification in mind.”
The state-of-the-art 4.71m campervan offers a range of 258 miles, a 5% to 80% charge time in 30 minutes and a starting price of £57,115, rising to £62,995 depending on specification. Official figures indicate an energy consumption value of 20.6 kWh/100 km for the car version, although a cargo version will also be launched.
Powered by an 82kWh battery pack and rear-wheel drive, the five-seat version can hit 90mph. A seven-seat, long-wheelbase option is slated to head to America in 2024, where demand is expected to “go through the roof.”
Add to that a leather-free interior, recycled seat covers and flooring, and it’s a complete multifunctional, fully connected electric vehicle for families.
Based on the iconic design of the first generation campervan, it also offers 4 contrasting two two paint schemes.
Mr. Clarke adds: “The ID. Buzz pays homage to the first campervan, but on a whole different level. It is bursting with innovative technology, is climate-neutral and redefines modern e-mobility.”
“In fact, we’ve had so much interest in ID.Buzz that we’ve had to dedicate some staff to handle all inquiries – it seems to have struck a chord with the UK automotive public. We are eagerly awaiting our next first deliveries of the year.”
