GM makes fun of Tesla Cybertruck in the weird Hummer EV Easter egg

GM decided to poke fun at the Tesla Cybertruck with a strange Easter egg in the newly shipped software of the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck.
We saw GM make fun of Tesla when it launched new electric vehicles.
For example, before the Chevy Bolt EV was launched, GM posted pictures of one of its prototypes driving outside Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto.
Later, when it was time to ship the very first Chevy Bolt EVs, it was at the closest dealer to Tesla’s Fremont factory.
Now, with GMC Hummer EV shipments starting, it looks like GM is bringing a little Tesla Easter egg again.
A very good internet detective in the Cybertruck forum spotted a strange icon in the menu of the Hummer EV in one of the first Hummer EV reviews:
The icon shows a Hummer EV climbing a ramp, but if you look closely you can clearly see that it is actually a drawing of the Tesla Cybertruck profile:

What is strange is that it’s under the “lights” icon even though there’s no light in the icon, which almost looks like a bug.
Anyway, there seems to be a good spirit of friendly competition, especially since the Hummer EV and Cybertruck aren’t direct competitors.
The Hummer EV starts at $ 80,000 and is the base version that’s still a few years away, while the Tesla Cybertruck is aiming for a much lower price tag.
But there has been more serious talk lately about the role of GM and Tesla in the electric revolution.
Many were offended when President Biden awarded GM CEO Marry Barra recognition for “electrifying the entire auto industry”:
According to all conceivable metrics, Tesla is responsible for electrifying or at least accelerating the electrification of the auto industry.
Even some automakers, including Ford and Volkswagen, have recognized that.
However, the Biden administration has been reluctant to acknowledge Tesla’s role in electrification even though the automaker owns about two-thirds of the U.S. electric vehicle market.
Just recently, GM invested in electrification by launching new generation EVs based on its Ultium electric platform – starting with the GMC Hummer EV.
