Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a “camper in a box” for its Caravelle, California Beach Tour and Caddy models.

It is a modular unit that fits into the existing overhead bins on these vehicles and contains all the essentials needed when camping or vacationing on the road.

The top-of-the-line BusBox, developed for the Caravelle T5, T6 and T6.1 models, includes a bed, a mattress, a kitchen area with space for a two-burner stove, an expandable storage space and a water supply. The price is around £3,340.

There is a BusBox available for the Caravelle and California Beach Tour models, which is available without a mattress and costs £2.55. Those wanting to convert their Caddy have the option of the KombiBox, which offers a bed, kitchen area, water supply and cargo space for £2,760. A folding mattress can be added for an additional £495.

James Allitt, Head of Aftersales at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “Our new range of camping accessories makes travel more convenient for customers by bringing together all travel essentials, from utilities to water supplies, in one smartly designed, comfortable and compact space.

“Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles attaches great importance to developing accessories that make our customers’ lives easier, which is why our one-stop motorhome is a great solution for anyone planning a camping holiday.”
