Addison Lee orders 450 Volkswagen ID.4
Addison Lee, London’s largest private transportation company, announced a major move of its 4,000-strong fleet to electric vehicles by 2023 through a massive £ 160 million investment.
The changeover begins with an order for 450 Volkswagen ID.4s, the largest ID.4 fleet deal in the country. The press release doesn’t name the version, but we’re assuming it’s rear-wheel drive with an 82 kWh battery and up to 518 km WLTP range.
“So today we are announcing that our fleet of cars will be fully electric by 2023, rolling out two years ahead of all other major PHV operators in London and an investment of £ 160 million from their ID.4s”

Liam Griffin, CEO of Addison Lee said:
“We are delighted and look forward to building on our existing partnership with Volkswagen by adding the ID.4 to our fleet. This will be Addison Lee’s first fully electric vehicle and reflects our premium position in the private rental market. “
For the next two years, Addison Lee will add around 200 all-electric vehicles each month, something that has never been seen in London. At this point it is not yet known which models the company will choose, but there will likely be multiple BEVs.
In the near future, Addison Lee expects to offer 20,000 emission-free trips a day in London.
The electrification of the fleet has already started, as the company recently acquired a black taxi platform ComCab earlier this year, which operates over 650 emission-free taxis.
