The Volkswagen ID.4 2022 is one of the big contenders in the electric SUV space, but it has some problems. Despite being Volkswagen’s first EV offering in the US, the ID.4 has so many problems that Consumer Reports doesn’t recommend it. Another problem has to do with the controls of the Volkswagen. Although the ID.4 has a nice interior, its controls are complicated to use. Basic functions like adjusting the seat heaters require at least two steps to do anything. Not only is this annoying, it may also mean having to look away from the obviously unsafe road.
The infotainment features are also complex, but have other issues. Consumer Reports said that the ID.4’s touchscreen is not only complicated, but also takes a long time to boot up and is slow to respond.

It takes around 8.5 hours to fully charge from 25% and it can be connected to a DC fast charger, but only at 135kW. Ultimately, however, this means that the ID.4 will sometimes have very long loading times.

For example, the Pro S trim gets a potent 295-horsepower electric powertrain that allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 5.8 seconds.
