In order for a vehicle to be considered a Top Safety Pick Plus winner, it must be rated “Good” in all IIHS crash tests. This includes side, roof thickness, headrests and seats, moderate overlap in front, small overlap in front: passenger side and small overlap in front: driver’s side. This excellent rating is also achieved when a vehicle is rated “Advanced” or “Superior” in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention tests.
The ID.4 2021 received good ratings in all crash tests. Thanks to the standard Front Assist system, the ID.4 received a superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and an advanced rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention. With its standard LED headlights, the ID.4 received an acceptable rating. However, the premium LED projector headlights available have raised this rating to Good.
Equipped with IQ.DRIVE, the new ID.4 offers practical, semi-autonomous capabilities. The functions of this system include the aforementioned Front Assist and Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor), Rear Traffic Alert, Emergency Assist and Travel Assist. In addition to the IQ.DRIVE systems, it stops the ID.4 provides additional features such as Dynamic Road Sign Display, Park Distance Control and Light Assist.
As I mentioned before, it should come as no surprise that a vehicle with so many standard driver assistance functions has received the highest safety rating from the IIHS.
